The album is finished... yet, there is so much left to be done.
We are currently working on artwork and packaging for the physical release. Since things have taken so long to get to this point that we have decided to do a "soft release" here on the website. What better time than 8:15pm on a Thursday?
Please take a moment to stream the new album over in the sidebar (if you are on mobile, click the "playlist" icon in the top left corner), and go ahead and share the link with anyone that you can! Let's see what this web server is made of...
It will be made available for download as soon as the final release is set in stone, until then, it will be streaming here on creaturepeople.org exclusively.
Thanks to everyone who is listening, and checking the website on a regular basis. We really appreciate you and wanted to get something new out there.
Thanks to our friend Jeff at This Is Red for inviting us into his lair to record! What a sweet setup!
Here are Fallingwater and My Very Sweet Friend, two tracks from our upcoming album The Making of Laughter and Tears!
We're happy to announce the release of Mantra Song from our upcoming album The Making of Laughter and Tears!
Stay tuned for more soon, and thank you for listening!
We've been teasing a new album for a long time...
A really long time. Sorry about that.
Life got in the way for a while, but we're happy to report that a lot of progress has been made in the last several weeks regarding mixing and mastering.
Each step of this process spawns new ideas and rabbit-holes to explore, but that is what makes it fun!
We are going to get this thing out there as soon as humanly possible, promise!
From now until the album release, anyone who signs up for the mailing list will receive a preview track.
We are dying to share, yet want to hold off until it's all finished.
This approach has always paid off in the end!
Kayli threw down two more songs over Christmas break in the brand new Creature People studio (aka the basement of Ian's new house).
This new album has been a long time in the making, and at times seems like it will never be here. Living in separate states while both having full-time jobs makes any time we get to spend working on this special, and we can't wait until it's ready to share!
We're now up to 14 songs that could potentially go on it, which will most likely be narrowed down to 12 for the final release. Lots of tracking and mixing left for Ian to do still, but the end result feels like it's finally within reach.
Thank you to anybody who is listening!
Thanks to BIRP! for including "West Cozy" on the November 2016 playlist!
Fans of Joanna Newsom should definitely check out the brother-sister duo known as Creature People. Combining classical guitar and quirky, sugar-sweet vocals for a folk-infused brand of indie. “West Cozy” is the title track from the band’s 2015 release and leaves on with the impression that is was created by fairyfolk from some unseen realm of magic rather than actual human beings from Pittsburgh. Listen to “West Cozy” below and then dive on into other offerings from Creature People through their Bandcamp page.
Greetings from Breckenridge, CO. We only had a short time to jam on this family vacation, but were able to produce this video in between goat sightings, pool parties, and way too much food.
Thanks to our new friends WeeClaire and Independent Clauses for giving us some links this week! It's fun to see clicks coming in from new places around the world. Please check out both of these blogs!
Creature People‘s Dark Ambitions is based on a recent trip to New York city.
It’s uncertain what went down in the Big Apple but as the track comes to a close, vocalist Kayli sings “dark ambitions are running this town, I don’t think I’ll stick around.” What happened? You decide!
The brother sister duo – Kayli and Ian – are a strange duo combining a 60s folk sound and awkward, haunting female vocals that make for an intriguing mix. It’s almost unnerving to listen at first but after a few plays, you’ll become utterly enchanted with the darkness that surrounds Creature People.
“West Cozy” – Creature People. By chance, I stumbled upon this text-based adventure game while I was listening to the song. Creature People’s mysterious, woodsy folk was the perfect accompaniment to a game that slowly unfolds itself as an adventure.
The May 2016 edition of The Indie Rock Playlist went online today, featuring Dark Ambitions. Thanks to them for including us again on their 10 year anniverary playlist! Check it out here.
Explosions of the Heart was also part of the March 2016 edition.
The two playlists together contain more than 10 hours of new tracks to discover, so get over there!
Tonight we played in the hallway. Here is Dark Ambitions:
We got to play a show on Saturday, so Ian is in Pittsburgh, and is spending the week here. We will be jamming, and recording some more songs. Here is a video from our practice for the show:
