It has been two years since my first post about building a pedalboard. I have learned a lot since then, and have added to and improved my setup quite a bit. So, I decided to post an update!
I didn't want to let August slip away without posting something to the blog, so here is my uke tracking session for "Mantra Song". Don't let the cat's rudeness turn you off.
Two things have been on my mind since the last time we played live:
1. Electric acoustic tone could be improved.
2. I need to cut down on set-up time.
I found some gear that can help, and tried to outline the process a little bit, and give a breakdown of my setup.
If that sounds interesting, read on!
Here is the bass tracking session for "Fallingwater". Yeah, I know I'm just standing there for the first minute, but you have to get into it! See? Just look at how amped up I am.
Welcome to the brand new creaturepeople.org v2.0! I stayed up way too late for a few days straight to bring you what I consider to be a great band website. I tried to ride the line between classic (you early 2000's teens will remember) band website, and modern web dev practices to create an immersive experience with a lot of content to explore. All of the music that we have released is in the playlist, which you can open from the button in the top left corner of the page, or by clicking below:
The live rig is finally complete.
First, the pickup. I've never liked the dulled sound of an acoustic instrument through a piezo pickup. I found an alternative: Myers Pickups. This thing is an isolated condenser microphone on a gooseneck working as an active pickup, and it sounds great. The character of the uke really comes through when amplified.
Also pictured is the Fishman Loudbox Artist acoustic amp, and the Line 6 M13 effects processor.
My new toy arrived today from Elderly Instruments.
Say hello to Brass Betty.
She's a Kala (KARES-BRS) brass tenor resonator.
